This is a Vintage Universal Geneve manual wind watch. An example of the type of utilitarian watch that was worn in the 40s, this has a wonderful dial with patina that has aged so gracefully. We found it with a case that was in rough shape which we restored to keep the attention on the dial and matched it with a new-old stock vintage military strap to complete the look.
Perfect to wear with a military jacket, or for just about every casual everyday look. Originally, this was a men's watch, but we think the size is also well suited for a stylish woman who prefers a medium sized watch.
Movement: High grade calibre 262 Swiss Universal Geneve movement is a manual wind movement. It has been newly serviced by a master watchmaker. It runs and keeps time in good order.
Dial condition and detail: Original dial as found has a wonderful mottled patina. The luminous on the numbers no longer glows. Original hands re-lumed to match the numbers on the dial to keep the look consistent and the focus on the dial.

We left this as found, but re-plated the case. Marked on inside caseback: nickel chrome; fond acier; Universal U.W.; Swiss. Marked on outside case back: 951811; 31225.
